Want more life lessons? Buddhism, which developed parallel to Taoism, teaches the art of being and helps you find inner peace. But Pooh teaches us that emptiness can clean out our messy minds and recharge the batteries of spiritual energy. Many people fear emptiness, frantically filling their lives with stuff and non-stop busyness. Flood your mind with positivity by thinking of the things you appreciate in your life, and let the snowball effect do the rest. So to build a positive life and increase your happiness, think positive thoughts. If you keep thinking about something, those thoughts will “snowball”. Pooh embodies the principle of the uncarved block, as he always exists in his natural state and sees the original simplicity in the everything and everyone around him. The Chinese word ‘pu’, which translates as ‘uncarved block’, refers to the natural state of things - to who we are at our core. It's obvious, isn't it? And yet, you'd be surprised how many people violate this simple principle every day of their lives and try to fit square pegs into round holes, ignoring the clear reality that Things Are As They Are.” Hoff writes: "A fly can't bird, but a bird can fly. So slow down and stop hurrying - simply be. But according to Pooh, time cannot be wasted. We often tend to rush through life, feverishly driven by our fear of wasting time. The theme of friendship runs through all of the Winnie the Pooh stories.A good example is this quote: We’ll be friends forever won’t we asked Piglet. As a Taoist saying goes: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” This is sometimes referred to as mindfulness. Wu wei is about letting go and letting be, but it’s definitely not about being lazy. Rather than trying to control or change things, he just lets life happen. Pooh has an effortless way of going about life. Here are some other important lessons taught through Pooh’s tales. Most importantly, the book teaches that meditation and self-reflection can help you become your most true self, which paves the way for peace, happiness and fulfillment. The Tao of Pooh is an absolute must-read for anyone seeking to live a richer and happier life, but we’ll give you a short sum-up of the life lessons it teaches. The Taoist principle of accepting the flow of life is beautifully captured by the following lines from the Tao of Pooh: The central teaching of Taoism is that we should always seek the path of least resistance-like water does-and just go with the flow. Now, like Eeyore, we complain about the results. For too long, we have chosen the way of Owl and Rabbit. Balance is never achieved for long, and nothing can exist without its opposite. Within each of us there is an Owl, a Rabbit, and Eeyore, and a Pooh. So what exactly does Taoism teach us? For Taoists, the one constant in life is change. Legend has it that a wise man by the name of Laozi wrote the Tao Te Ching, but it’s more likely that the book is a collection of texts written by various authors. The ancient book Tao Te Ching-The Way and its Power-was compiled around the third century BCE and consists of 81 brief texts. The word Tao translates as “way” or “path”. Taoism is a Chinese philosophical tradition that teaches how to live life wisely. Other key titles include Wonderful Places, The Recruit, and Destination LA, Dallas, and SF. There are a lot of robotics kits and codable robots out there on the market, so it can be hard to choose the best fit. The alternative solution is to get the smarthub, motor and sensors, and then use a parts list like this one on BrickOwl to figure out what you’ve already got and what to top up. If you’re overseas, try looking at websites for teaching supplies, as Lego WeDo 2.0 is designed as an education resource. Here are the best deals local to me in NZ. The easiest is to grab a Core Kit, with everything you’ll need. There are a few different ways to get the Lego WeDo components. With the gearbox, both these gears are held firmly in place, and are very unlikely to slip. We used the worm gear for Yoshihito Isogawa’s Swinging Monkey, by fixing it directly to the motor with an axle and placing a 24-tooth standard gear above it to drive the arm rotation. Bevel gears allow you to make connections at 90 degrees, which is useful for driving a wheel axle. By testing out different combinations, you can expand the speed range beyond what the motor can offer directly.Ĭombining Technic beams with larger gears allows you to create hinge actions, like this Inchworm project, and wedge belt wheels can be used to make a flywheel or pulley system. Then swap them over and see how it changes. Learn what happens when you connect a small gear to a larger gear, by observing the speed of the second gear. With small, large, bevel, worm and rack gears, you have so many combos. Lego WeDo comes with a range of gears that are great for demonstrating mechanical concepts. They use a different type of connector, and we haven’t found a way around that. You could also add extra legs to a spider ( or this dancing crab) by using more Technic beams.īe aware though, it’s not compatible with the sensors, motors or hubs from other Lego kits, including Power Functions, Mindstorms, Boost or Spike. For Liam’s Christmas Tree project, he wanted all red and green blocks, so pulled out everything he could find in the right colour. That makes it very easy when you want to add extra features. Compatibility with other Lego productsĪs you would expect, Lego WeDo 2.0 is compatible with all the standard Lego and Lego Technic bricks. Liam prefers coding on the Lego WeDo app, because it’s easy with the pictures, but his grandma gets involved as well and prefers to code in Scratch. We’ve tried coding Lego WeDo 2.0 with both Scratch and the Lego WeDo app, and had lots of success with both platforms. The structured classes with Bricks 4 Kidz have given him a great foundation, and his creativity has taken him the rest of the way. Over the last 6 months, Liam has learned a huge amount about gears, coding and design. With a bit of practice, he started creating his own. Liam took inspiration from Yoshihito Isogawa, Mi 2 Tom, and other creators he found on YouTube. As a result, we haven’t done many of the tutorials in the Lego WeDo app, but skipped straight to the ambitious stuff. Liam’s not particularly strong at following instructions, and always wants to skip ahead. We started by getting just the smarthub, motor and sensors individually, and using them with our existing Lego at home. He loved his classes, but wanted to do more work with WeDo outside of class. Every week Liam built a new project, often an animal or a vehicle. Until he started there, we hadn’t even heard of this kit. Liam is in the second level of classes, where they use Lego WeDo 2.0. That has been such a great piece of luck! The weekend classes are tiny, so he gets to work one-on-one with a teacher and push the limits of the project. So we found out that they were also running classes at the local library on Saturday mornings. It booked out within a few hours, and Liam was really sad about missing out. Bricks 4 Kidz began running some after school classes at his school in mid-2021. He has loved Lego for years, and been getting really interested in building and coding his other robots. Liam has been using Lego WeDo 2.0 for around 6 months. Considering Invisible Woman's force fields are insanely powerful, the adventure promises to be quite thrilling.Įven in stories like Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch's Age of Ultron, where Sue travels through space and time with Wolverine to save the universe from the cybernetic apocalypse, she is almost always a supporting character. Yippie-ki-yay, Marvel Universe." As she's alone in the Baxter Building, readers may finally have a chance to see the Invisible Woman's thoughts against aliens when she's not merely in the service of other characters. Get ready for Die Hard in the Baxter Building. But with the fate of humanity on the line, what happens when Oubliette Midas sets her sights on the Baxter Building? As the Fantastic Four falls before the Exterminatrix's death traps, only one hero remains standing-but if you thought Oubliette was dangerous, it's nothing compared to what the Invisible Woman is capable of. According to Marvel, " Reed Richards has locked himself in his Think Tank in search of answers. The two-part miniseries promises an extremely enticing concept for Sue: she will defend the Baxter Building like John McClane in Die Hard. In a show about aliens blending in with humanity, having a character who can alter her appearance, keep out of sight of those stealing identities and gather information without leaving a trace would be a huge advantage for Nick Fury and Talos.Related: Fantastic Four's Most Powerful Member Has Been Wasted By MarvelĪ new article from Marvel reveals that the Judgement Day event will allow Sue to star in David Pepose and Juann Cabal's Fantastic Four #47. While more is known about this show, there is still a lot of mystery to the Disney+ series, like who Emila Clarke is playing and what the Skrulls want. RELATED: Secret Invasion Puts Nick Fury at the Center of Marvel’s Latest ConspiracyĪnother espionage-like title from the MCU is Secret Invasion. That would give her a chance to show off her abilities and establish her as an ally to the characters on this team. Like in her miniseries, she could be brought in for a specific mission rather than being brought on as a permanent member. Because of this, Sue Storm could fit right in, even if she isn’t a full-time team member. While little is known about Thunderbolts, based on the team’s comic history and the characters’ backgrounds, it would be shocking for the film not to feature espionage. Bucky Barnes, in particular, highlights how this approach to character introductions can set someone up for a bigger role. Despite this, they are all set up to be major players in Thunderbolts. All three were supporting characters in their introductions to the MCU rather than being the focal hero or villain. That also goes for Winter Soldier, Red Guardian and U.S. While she does not have a film in-store focusing on her, she will play a major role in Thunderbolts. Yelena, for instance, was introduced in Black Widow. Meanwhile, characters who are not set for their own films but are destined for team-up movies have similarly been introduced this way. Not only does this switch up the formula for superhero origin stories, but it also proves the world of the MCU is home to plenty of heroes beyond the official Avengers. Even when they had their own films, these movies did not deliver origin stories, as T’Challa and Peter Parker had been working as heroes beforehand. Captain America: Civil War introduced Black Panther and Spider-Man to the MCU before their solo films. Introducing Sue Storm on her own and prior to the Fantastic Four film could work well since the MCU has done something similar with several of its most successful characters. Whether it is trying to see if an enemy is sneaking up on her or if she is trying to gather crucial information without breaking into something, this power gives her a huge advantage when working in the world of spies. Meanwhile, her ability to make objects invisible means she can see through them. Sue is the perfect partner in the field, as she can provide cover in numerous ways, whether that is via her force fields or by making her partner invisible to the naked eye. Along with making herself invisible, she can make objects and people invisible. As seen in the miniseries, she can also alter the colors of her hair and eyes, making her a master of disguise. Obviously, her ability to make herself invisible means it's easy for her to spy on others and sneak behind enemy lines. Sue being a spy makes perfect sense, thanks to her powers. Back in the day, she undertook an undercover mission on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D. While the main storyline follows Sue as she jumps back into the spy game, the comic revisits a chapter of her life new to many readers. Invisible Woman, written by Mark Waid and pencils by Mattia De Iulis, is about Sue returning to the world of espionage. Back in 2019, Sue Storm received a miniseries. Movement from one combo to another is emphasized, as each attack feels wonderfully fluid to execute, stitching together light attacks with heavy ones to keep scores high and earn more halos (used as currency in the demon-run bar Gates of Hell). As with any character-action experience, the goal of the game is to master play with Bayonetta’s specific movesets and all of the weapon-based variations she can pick up along the way. It is important to keep in mind that the storyline of “Bayonetta 2” is far from being the focus of the game. It is at this point that motivations in the game become muddled to the player, and keeping track of everybody’s character histories and allegiances is a losing battle. From here on out, the goal of the game becomes an effort to save Jeanne from her damned fate, all the while contending with demons, angels and a mysterious third party, all seemingly intent on stopping her. After a sudden attack by angels, the titular witch finds herself unable to control one of her demonic familiars and Jeanne sacrifices herself to save Bayonetta. Following the events of the original in which Bayonetta defeated the godlike Jubileus and recovered her memories, the sequel finds her acclimating to life as an Umbra Witch and readying a Christmas party with fellow witch Jeanne (yes, the plot begins with party-planning). Like its predecessor, “Bayonetta 2” has a storyline that is almost entirely incomprehensible. The question is: Does the game manage to hold up in spite of this? Funded by Nintendo and pushed forward by the sheer will of Team Little Angels, the game is exclusive to what is objectively the weakest console of the current generation. 24 exclusively to the Wii U - much to the chagrin of a public used to playing the original on XBox 360 and Playstation 3 - and has since been surfing on an ocean of near-perfect reviews ever since. Platinum Games has finally delivered a sequel to 2010’s character-action game “Bayonetta,” allowing the hungry fanbase to gorge on all the gun kata combos they could possibly want. I have a ton of nut-free vegan cheese recipes because I really like cheese and I’m also really cheap and don’t have enough money to keep 5 pounds of raw cashews in my house at all times.Īnd yes, I keep around 5 pounds of raw sunflower seeds in my house at all times… they work well for so many things!Īnway, here’s some of my favorite vegan cheese recipes!Īs always, I hope you love this recipe-I know I do, and Mr. Oh and if you’re wondering, queso fresco is a type of cheese, not related to queso dip. I actually prefer queso on my nachos because it has a richer, smokier flavor and I like the chiles. It’s not the same as nacho cheese although sometimes the two are used in similar ways. It’s served as a warm dish with chips or tortillas. If you know any Spanish, queso is actually the literal word for cheese, even though there are tons of cheeses out there, and lots of variations used in Mexican cuisine.Ĭhile con Queso or queso dip are actually more accurate terms, and are more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican cuisine. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.Top your queso with cilantro, pico de gallo, or chopped chipotle peppers in adobo from the can (if you like spicy food!). Note that when heated, it can form a darker matte layer on top… this is just a chemical reaction that’s totally safe to eat. Serve that nut-free vegan queso in a bowl or thin with a little water to drizzle over chips. You can also heat it in a pot or the microwave after blending if needed. I do 3 full minutes to get it super creamy and also because 3 minutes heats it up nicely so I can enjoy hot queso with my chips. Blend on high for 2 ½ - 3 minutes, adding more water as needed to blend (I use the full 1 ¼ cups water to blend). Add all ingredients to the blender, cover with its lid, and slowly turn the power all the way up.I didn’t always have a high powered blender so I used to have to let my blender cool down in between blending to make sure it didn’t overheat. Additionally, you may want to blend in 30 second bursts to let your blender rest in between. Then drain the water before adding to your blender. Note: If you do not have a high powered blender like a Vitamix or a Blendtec, you’ll want to soak your raw sunflower seeds (or sub cashews) for 30-60 minutes in just-boiled water.Spices: I used granulated onion, ground cumin, chili powder, and spice to flavor my queso, but you can adjust as needed for your individual tastes. If you don’t like nutritional yeast, you can substitute about ½ cup shredded vegan cheese (yes, in the blender). Nutritional yeast: Nooch (nutritional yeast’s vegan nickname) gives this vegan queso a good dose of cheesiness. You could always add a little smoked paprika for some more flavor. If you do not like spicy food, just leave this out. You could also substitute any hot sauce, sriracha, harissa, or a ground spice like chipotle or cayenne if you don’t have chipotle peppers in adobo. I only used one for just a small kick, but you can add more if you like spicy. Chipotle pepper in adobo: This is what gives our queso its spice.Mince it up first or use granulated garlic if you don’t have a high powered blender. Garlic: I prefer the flavor of fresh peeled garlic for this recipe. If watching your fat intake, either substitute canned/cooked white beans (like cannellini beans) or silken/soft tofu (if using tofu you will need less water, so only add as much water as needed). This will help make your queso ultra creamy. If you do not have a high powered blender, soak your seeds or cashews in just boiled water for 30-60 minutes and then drain the water before blending. Raw sunflower seeds: So these are way cheaper than cashews, though you’re also welcome to use raw cashews cup for cup. This nut-free vegan queso is SO easy to make and might become your new fav snack.Īnd if you like it warm it’s easy to warm up-in fact, if you have a high powered blender like a Vitamix, it will warm it up for you. This super thick queso can be thinned down if you want to drizzle it over something like a loaded baked potato or a plate of nachos or even nacho fries. You could also sub tofu if you’re watching your fat intake, but the seeds do make this sauce ultra creamy. This particular recipe is made with raw sunflower seeds which are less than half the price of the raw cashews, at least where I live. So I started subbing other things like tofu or raw sunflower seeds. It’s also more accessible for my friends and followers with nut allergies!īut seriously, does anyone else feel like EVERY vegan recipe nowadays relies on cashews? And they’re one of the most expensive nuts. Hey Internet, I love everything about queso, so it’s no surprise I’m bringing you a queso recipe (and a few days before Cinco de Mayo at that).Īnd like my other vegan cheese recipes, it’s made without nuts because honestly it’s just cheaper. |
